Implant Dentistry

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that an implantologist places into the patient’s jaws to hold a replacement tooth or bridge.

1aDental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

Implant dentistry is the most advanced therapy available to replace missing teeth. Dental implant restorations generally look, feel and act like natural teeth.

Dental implants may offer you important advantages compared to other treatment options: improved good health and enhanced appearance, which may lead to greater self confidence and a better quality of life.

Dental Implants are the best solution for:

  • Replacing one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Supporting a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable.
  • Restoring chewing, speech, and digestion.

The place and the number of the implants depend on the bone-quality, which can be seen on the panoramic X-ray.

What exactly does the dental implant procedure involve:

  1. Placement of the implant(s) into the jaws with local anesthetisia or in dental sedation. The healing period –while the implant fuses to the bone after the surgery is between 3 and 4 months.
  2. In a minor surgical exposure of the top of the implant, the post will be attached to the implant.  The function of the post is to become the support for either one tooth or a set of teeth. This is a short procedure that usually requires only local anesthesia

The last phase is the restorative phase.  The dentist will take impressions and then the laboratory can make the crown or the bridge.

Implant-Supported Removable Denture

2aDentures affixed with implants are more comfortable, convenient and aesthetic than  conventional removable dentures.
The denture is now secure and can be removed for home cleaning. You will avoid the use of uncomfortable adhesives and unpleasant surprises while eating or speaking. The result is nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth.
